I am a postgraduate researcher at the University of Southampton in England, writing a dissertation on the Kindertransport.
My research focuses on the refugee agencies and organizations that worked to bring children into Great Britain and cared for them once here, with specific focus on the work of the Polish Jewish Refugee Fund. This group brought in children who had been expelled from Germany in October 1938 to Zbąszyń and other parts of Poland.
I have located case files on number of these children including several girls who were sponsored by the Middlesbrough Hebrew Congregations. Within these files is quite a bit of correspondence between Mr Mayer Marks and Elsley Zeitlyn of the PJRF. The girls’ files include those of Gina Fischbein and Berta and Sarah Rotblit and Charlotte Ohringer.
