I look after an old lady who remembers a Jewish Lady originally from Russia Kiev. called Brenda Lapp. Brenda taught Drama and originally came to London and then moved to Middlesbrough. Although blind and hard of hearing and in a wheelchair, my friend communicates with another friend in New Zealand. They both posed the question: what happened to Brenda Lapp. Can anyone help? Query re J and A Brechner (c1950)
As part of my interest in the history of British camera manufacturing, I am researching the history of the Zeus 35mm camera sold in the early 1950s. This camera was distributed by Jos Barry Ltd of 115 Corporation Road in Middlesborough and I understand that this was one of several shops owned by father and son, J and A Brechner.
I am hoping there may be someone in your virtual community who might be able to tell me more about the family firm and especially the origins of the camera, which is marked 'Made in England', but in over 20 years I have not been able to find out who made it. I was just looking at your website looking at our family tree. I am the granddaughter of Polly Smollen of Middlesbrough. And my mom's name was Vera Goldstein - (Hicks).
Enjoyed looking at this website. Jane Teasdale email@example.com

We are embarking on a project to create a digital map of the town which shows how religious beliefs and practices in the town have changed. We would be very grateful if we could use the resources on your site.
