Whilst researching some Jewish links in Middlesbrough I stumbled across your website and I was wondering if you may be able to help me, I would greatly appreciate any information you have about the Jaffa family, who resided in the Middlesbrough area from the late 1890s until the 1970s. I appreciate that this may be a long shot and that the only information available may already have been printed on the website, I would be most grateful if you could help. L Cox
I remember going to the Kershes for the Queen's coronation and watching the series "Little Red Monkey" on a motsei Shabbat. In black and white of course.
You can play the rather scary theme song below (Tzivia discovered it for me!) See if it brings back memories!
THE LITTLE RED MONKEY by Eric Maschwitz. 1953. TV cast - Donald Houston; Arthur Rigby and Honor Blackman Six 30 minute episodes between January 24th and February 28th, 1953. Plot concerns atom scientist and a midget Russian spy. Cold war thriller.
I read with interest your internet article regarding Olive Colver and her memories of the Charles Amer Orchestra.
I am trying to track down any recordings made by Charles Amer, in particular, records featuring the vocals of Carol Scott, who sang for his band. She was my great Aunt and we would appreciate any help you can give.
The only recording I have managed to track down is one from Butlins 1951, singing the "Butlin's Ballet". Marie Vickers email: [email protected]
I am looking for information regarding the family of the late Nathan Marks (1882-1934). I am actually the grandson of the late Maurice Marks (1910-1966), and would be grateful if anyone had any information which may be of interest. Marcel Marks
